Our PM, MMS in the last 5 years never visited all the states in the country. He never established contact with aam aadmi. MMS needs certificate from Rahul Gandhi that he is doing a good job. The person who has self respect will never become PM in these circumstances. MMS is holding PM's chair until Rahul Gandhi becomes "mature" enough to rule..yes rule..because this family has always ruled the nation and never governed it.

I haven't seen anything more laughable than this for quiet some time...BTW do you think by chanting "Green Card" 100 times a day will get you green card or Not talking about India will get it, should we stop talking to people about India here & stop going to India and stop making calls to India since we are focussing on Green Cards ? Grupak, I am not suggesting any single country is monopolizing the foreign worker pool. Employment laws in the US are fairly non-discriminatory except the diversity in workplace or "Affarmative Action" component which prefers a minority when two candidates possess the same skills.

I still fail to see how country caps on Employment Based immigration serve the purpose of diversity. Look, people from India/China with H1B visas and pending AOS applications are already here, right? They are here and will be here regardless of whether they get GCs now or after 10 years. Many of them bought houses, have families, American born kids. How making them wait for years is gonna serve the purpose of diversity? You think if an Indian guy will be using AC21/EAD for years, going to finger printing every year, going through secondary security check on airports, in time he is gonna evolve into something less Indian? It's gonna be the same people but with different documents in their pockets.
For diversity purposes there is lottery, and the purpose of that lottery is exactly that - the diversity. Also, if the government wants diversity, they should have immigration program like Canada has. According to the latest news from Sri Lanka:
1) All the Tamil civilians that were held hostage as human shields by the LTTE, have been rescued by the Sri Lankan army and have crossed over to safety.
2) The LTTE have conceded defeat and said it is ready to surrender to a 3rd party.
3)The whereabouts of Prabhakaran is not yet known but there is lots of rumors in the net saying that his body has been found and it is being investigated for DNA proof.
4) The Sri Lankan army is still engaged in clearing out small pockets of LTTE that still remains.
5) The whole island is celebrating with dancing in the streets, fire crackers and distributing Kiri-Bath (Milk Rice) which is cooked for very important occasions. And I wish I was there too !!!! :)
So as you see it is all good!!!

Columbus brought Rajiv Khanna and Sheela Murthy to create/interpret all the immigration rules for this new found land. When Columbus landed here, he declared all native americans as illegal premanent residents. All of them had to go through a change of status process (I-539) to become legal permament residents. Well.....native Indian did not have latestes or any pay stubs...so they had to go out of the country and re-enter to claim their legal status.....that's why they moved to South Dacota. That time South Dacota wasn't a part of USA......blah blah blah...

I believe in luck in the GC process. Before 2005 PERM process, many folks applied in states where Labor was fast. They were able to get greencards within a couple of years while others were stuck in Labor Backlog centers (http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=67&Itemid=50). Some cleared all hurdles and got stuck in namechecks for years. Until 2007 Namecheck was a big scare. (http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=81&Itemid=61)
Many people could not file in July 07 for various reasons. Some people were born in India but were brought up in other country. Even they are stuck. Some people decided to rise in their careers and changed jobs on H1. While they did rise, but lost in the grreencard PD race.

Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth consistently dominate the top 10 cities in the world to live. 6 of th top 10?
The index takes into account, cost of living, earnings capacity, safety, etc.
Canada probably has one of the most rosey futures on earth. It has an abundance of resources, a tiny population and ironically, global warming is adding to its opportunities.
Cost of living is actually far below that in places like NY and California.
Health care, while not top notch, provides better care to more people than is likely to be found in places like the US. PARTICULARLY for people that are older and more likely to need it.
Education is infinitely better. US Public schools are atrocious.

As for the weather, well duh! :)

War is in the northern and eastern provinces. Sinhala and Muslims were driven out of this area by the LTTE. Tamils live all over the country. Tamils lead regular life in other areas of the country that's not succumbed to the war, this includes the capital, colombo. They conduct business, attend universities/schools, they lead a regular life just like any other sinhala or muslims. Tamils lead prosperous lives in other parts than the north and east. The reason they can't live in the north or east is due to their own LTTE, the group that was supposed to liberate tamils.
If there's ethnic cleansing or genocide against tamils, Sinhala and muslim people should be killing tamils all over the country. This is not case in Sri Lanka. I have tamil friends and classmates, we went to school together. How come there are tamil ministers in the parliament. I have been working here for 9 years and next year we plan to return back to India. I spoke to SSN customer service to find out my retirement and survivor benefits. Being an Indian citizen, all these are available only if me, or my dependants, have a valid residing status with the US, at the time of making the application. The contribution at this point is like getting a right to work.
Per the current grey SS Rules, you cannot claim SS benefits on retirement if you are an Indian citizen residing in India at the time of filing the claim. (Even if you have accumulated 40 credits)

- My self (primary) & my wife's(derivative) I-485's (PD June 2002) were filed in March 2007.
- My I-485 was approved in July 2007, my wife's was pending due to NC.
- My wife's employer filed PERM (PD June 2007) & then filed I-140 in March 2008.
- We recently contacted NSC regarding my wife's case status, we received a letter from them stating that, her I485 is waiting for I-140 to get approved.
They linked her new I-140 to her pending I-485 that was filed as derivative.Is this USCIS error?.How to correct this error and have them consider her I-485 application as a derivative application?.

We need a thorough analysis of this document and an assesment how it affects our membership. If this is something our members want IV to discuss with USCIS, we can do it. All those affected by it, and willing to volunteer can contact IV to form a team and work on the analysis of this document.
